Guard Your Mind From the Buzz of the Enemy

An Inspirational Devotion From Pastor Brian

June 10, 2025

Let me ask you, are you going through a battle right now? I may not know exactly what you’re facing, but I can tell you this. If you’re a child of God, the devil is coming after you.

Now I don’t say that to scare you. I say it to help you be aware. The devil is real. One of his biggest lies is to make people think he doesn’t exist. But the Bible shows us who he really is.

He’s called the devil, which means slanderer. He’s called the adversary in 1 Peter 5:8, where the Bible says he is like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. He’s called the serpent in Genesis 3 and Revelation 12, where it says he leads the whole world astray. He’s even called Beelzebub, which means “lord of the flies.”

Let’s stop right there. Have you ever been at a picnic, trying to enjoy your food, and a fly keeps buzzing around? Or maybe it’s a mosquito or a gnat. It flies around your head, near your eyes, and drives you crazy. That’s what the devil tries to do. He goes after our thinking. He sends little thoughts that buzz around your mind, trying to distract you or upset you.

And just like a fly that comes back after you swat it, the enemy keeps trying to mess with your thoughts. But here's what we’ve got to do. We must protect our minds. And how do we do that? By using the Word of God. God’s Word is our weapon. When the enemy comes with lies, we speak God’s truth. That is how we win the battle in our minds.

Until next time, remember to take time out for God, because God always has time for you!

Sticky Statement:
The battle starts in your mind, but victory begins in God’s Word.

Questions To Think About

  1. What thoughts have been buzzing around in your mind lately?
  2. Are those thoughts helping you or hurting you?
  3. What truth from God’s Word can you speak over those thoughts today?

Prayer For Today:

"Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. I know the enemy tries to mess with my mind, but I choose to stand on Your truth. Help me to see the lies for what they are and to speak Your Word over my life. Fill my heart and my thoughts with peace. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen."

Thank you for sharing this devotion with your friends.
