Don't Be Lunch Meat For A Roaring Lion

An Inspirational Devotion From Pastor Brian

I don’t want to be lunch meat for a roaring lion. Now what do I mean by that?

We’ve been talking about spiritual warfare. And I want to say it clearly. This battle is real. The devil is not just some cartoon figure with a pitchfork. He’s your enemy and mine. The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

That verse should get our attention. I don’t know about you, but I’m not interested in becoming his next meal.

Satan is the adversary of your soul. That word adversary means “one who opposes.” He wants to stop God's plan for your life. He wants to confuse your mind, steal your peace, and slow your progress. He brings discouragement, division, and distraction. And when we let our guard down, he comes in fast.

But here’s the good news. We don’t have to be afraid. God has given us spiritual weapons and spiritual armor to stand against every lie, every attack, and every roaring threat the enemy throws our way.

So what do we do? Peter tells us to be sober and vigilant. That means stay spiritually awake. Be sharp. Ask the Holy Spirit every day to give you wisdom and discernment. Don’t believe every thought that crosses your mind. Test it with God’s Word. And remember this. If you feel confused, overwhelmed, or pushed to give up, that is not coming from God. That is the enemy trying to cloud your view.

Let’s stand strong together. Because no lion, roaring or not, can outrun a child of God who is walking in the Spirit.

Until next time, remember to take time out for God, because God always has time for you!

Sticky Statement:
"If you drop your guard, the enemy moves in."

Questions To Think About

  1. What areas of my life am I letting my guard down spiritually?
  2. How can I stay alert to the devil’s attacks each day?
  3. Am I asking the Holy Spirit for discernment before I make decisions?

Prayer For Today:

"Lord, help me to stay alert. I don’t want to be caught off guard by the enemy. I know that Satan wants to destroy, but I believe You came to give life. Fill me with Your wisdom. Help me recognize the enemy’s lies and fight back with truth. I trust You to lead me and protect me as I walk in Your purpose. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen."

Thank you for sharing this devotion with your friends.
