God Met Me In A Dorm Room

God Met Me in a Dorm Room

An Inspirational Devotion From Pastor Brian

Have you ever been so overwhelmed that you didn’t know what to do next? That’s exactly how I felt many years ago as a college student. I was up late studying for a major chemistry exam. I had been working hard for hours, but nothing seemed to make sense. The information just wasn’t sticking. I was tired, frustrated, and stressed out.
I remember kneeling beside my bed in my college dorm room and crying out to God. I prayed, “Lord, help me. I just can’t understand this.” I decided I would try to get some sleep and wake up early to study again. But even as I lay in bed, my mind wouldn’t rest. So I got up and prayed again, asking God for peace and assurance.

And then something powerful happened.

I didn’t hear a voice out loud, but in my spirit, I heard these words: Jeremiah 33:3. I knew that was a verse from the Bible, but I honestly didn’t remember what it said. So I got up, opened my Bible, and read: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.”

Wow. That was the exact word I needed. It was as if God had written it just for me in that moment. I felt His peace come over me. I went to sleep trusting that He was with me. The next day, I got up early to review again. I took that two-hour exam, gave it my best, and by God’s grace, I made an A.

Here’s what I learned that night. God speaks. He may not always speak out loud, but He speaks through His Word and by the Holy Spirit. When we invite Him into our situation, He brings peace, truth, and guidance.

You might be facing something that feels too big. Maybe it’s a test, a hard decision, or a heavy burden. Don’t carry it alone. Call out to God. Open your Bible. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you. He will meet you right where you are.

Until next time, remember to take time out for God, because God always has time for you!

Sticky Statement:

God still speaks! Open your Bible and open your heart.

Questions To Think About

  1.  What’s something in your life right now that feels too big for you to handle on your own?
  2. Have you ever experienced a moment where God gave you peace or direction through His Word?
  3. How can you make room for God to speak to you today?

Prayer For Today:

"Dear God, thank You for being close to me even when I feel overwhelmed. Help me to trust You in every situation. Speak to me through Your Word and guide me by the Holy Spirit. I invite You into my life today. Give me Your peace and show me the way I should go. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen."
